My first taste of broadcast journalism came from my middle school announcements. I loved the rush of scrambling to put a show together each morning and could tell it was something I wanted to do as long as possible.
I continued working on the morning announcements in high school, learning more about the art of storytelling along the way.
The first club I joined at ASU was the student radio station: Blaze Radio. I had a DJ shift and worked my way up to hosting music specialty shows. When I started interning at KJZZ, Phoenix’s NPR member station, it felt like everything finally clicked.
